The program for the Summer Intensive Course 2015 is contained in the attachment, which shows, as major characteristics, the following:
(1) Dates will be from 31 Aug. to 5 Sep. Welcome party will be held on the first day and farewell party will be held on 4 Sep., both in the evening. There will be excursion on 5 Sep. to be arranged by OIT students.
(2) The title of the subject is "Advanced Study of Comparative Intellectual Property Laws" which consists of fully English lectures.
This is part of our official lectures for OIT students. But, for students from our partner universities they are not (no credits will be given). However, the "scores" could be given at around the end of year 2015, or even earlier if you require.
(3) The venue will be our main campus in Omiya the same as the 2014 course.
(4) Estimated number of rooms for your students to stay during the course have been reserved already. In general, we are ready to accept one professor and four students from one university. We would like to know how many students (and teachers) will participate the course and require the rooms of the dormitory this year, initially by the end of June, subject to final confirmation by the end of July. We apologize that the dormitory will only be available for the period of the course (from 30 Aug to 6 Sep). If you would like to arrive at Osaka before 30 Aug., or to depart from Osaka after 6 Sep., please find hotels for those extra stays on your own.
(5) Evaluation of students' performance will be done as follows for giving "scores" (full score is 100) for the subject.
- Students' performance will be evaluated by the two elements:
(i) Post course report, (ii) "Participation" at the group discussion session on the morning of 4 Sep. (distinct from the presentation contest) and other small sessions (for about 15 minutes) held at the end of each day except Wednesday.
- A list of members for the group discussions will be designated at the Guidance on the first day. Each group will be a mixed (inter-universities) team consisting of students of several universities.
- Post course report will contain at least one of the themes examined in the lectures and arguments on the theme. There may be some additional works given by each lecturer.
Deadline of the report will be 30th September. Each university will be required to collect all the reports of its students and send them to OIT (takenori.miura@oit.ac.jp) in an electronic form.
(6) A presentation contest will be held in the afternoon of 4 September, consisting of all the students taking the subject. One or more teams from each university will make presentations. Best presentations will be awarded as first, second and third prize (or gold, silver and bronze prize). Evaluation for the contest will be done by OIT teachers and other teachers who are available.
(7) Provide transportation from/to Kansai International Airport, but only one time for each direction.
- From Kansai International Airport to OIT: 30 Aug., 2:00 pm
- From OIT to Kansai international airport: Morning or afternoon of 6 Sep. (exact time will be decided later through consultation).
- In addition, for those who will participate the Tokyo IP Course, we will pick them up at Shin-Osaka Station on 30 Aug., around 4:00 pm.
We would appreciate it very much if you would send us participants' information in the attached form by the end of June initially, subject to final confirmation by the end of July.
Finally, for those who are interested in participating Tokyo course before the OIT course, please see the following link. Registration should be done by themselves.
