Chih-Yuan Chen is a professor at the Institute of Intellectual Property of National Taipei University of Technology (NTUT). He earned both Master degrees in Business Administration (M.B.A) and Material Sciences (M.S.) and a Ph. D degree from National Taiwan University.

Dr. Chen has diverse experiences in patent prosecution and infringement analysis in domestic jurisdictions. Prior to joining NTUT, he has served in government sector as a Patent Examiner in the Taiwan Intellectual Property Office (TIPO) for 10 years. In addition, he is a certified Patent Agent in Taiwan. Furthermore, he was employed as a process integration engineer at high-tech company in Taiwan.

His current major interest focuses on practice in patent application strategy, patent portfolio management, multinational’s patent policy comparative and analysis.
