Chih-Yuan Chen is an associate professor at the Institute of Intellectual Property of National Taipei University of Technology (NTUT). He earned both Master degrees in Business Administration (M.B.A) and Material Sciences (M.S.) and a Ph. D degree from National Taiwan University.

Dr. Chen has diverse experiences in patent prosecution and infringement analysis in domestic jurisdictions. Prior to joining NTUT, he has served in government sector as a Patent Examiner in the Taiwan Intellectual Property Office (TIPO) for 10 years. In addition, he is a certified Patent Agent in Taiwan. Furthermore, he was employed as a process integration engineer at high-tech company in Taiwan.

His current major interest focuses on practice in patent application strategy, patent portfolio management, multinational’s patent policy comparative and analysis.
